Below is the advisory from our management regarding the incidents you may encounter with our system:

We have been experiencing too many transactions that we have not anticipated. The volume of daily transactions is way above our projections for this year. Our tech team is disabling from time to time some tools on the web tools of our retailers, sub-dealers and dealers to avoid swamping the system. Rest assured though that we are doing something about it. We have already purchased new sets of servers, co-located another rack at e-PLDT’s Vitro Data Center and our programmers have been working on our new core for the past month. This new system core will address all the issues
that we are currently facing. We are scheduled to deploy this by late November.

Anyway, many iPad2 3G owners asking the same questions over and over again :
Question #1 : Where will i get a micro sim?
Answer : As of now, only globe has micro sim. Smart is claiming that they have but parating out of stock. Sun Cellular doesn’t have a micro sim.

Question #2 : I want to use Sun Cellular Broadband. They dont have microsim. What should i do?
Answer : Option #1 : If you are very good at Arts & Crafts, you can cut it by yourself using a ruler, a 0.5 pigment marker and a blade. Option #2 you can have it cut. I forgot the store name but i got mine cut at SM Megamall Cyberzone.

NOTE : DO NOT BUY SUN PREPAID BROADBAND SIM for your iPad2 3G. Use the normal sim. Kasi yung gold thing ng sun broadband sim malapad. pag pina cut mo yun sobrang sakto baka tamaan yung sim hindi sya gagana. Buy the normal pre-paid sim and have it cut.

Una kasi binili ko yung Sun Broadband sim mismo sa Sun Shop. Yung number ko punyeta pang 50 pa. Wala ako choice di mag hintay. Then last week nag cut sila tapos now hindi na ewan ko kung bakit. Then sabi nila yung sa tapat daw nag cut eh d sabi ko sige papa cut ko nalang. Pag ka bili ko… nung i-papa-cut ko na sabi nung lalake hindi daw pwede kasi nga malapad. Gamitin ko daw yung normal na sim. Sabi ko sa sarili ko ” anak ng #$#@$@#$ ano? pipila nanaman ako?” Buti nalang nag bebenta sila ng sim na sun. 59.00 pesos. Yung fee sa pag papa-cut is 100.00 pesos.

Later, i will tell you how to reload your Sun prepaid sim without removing your sim on your iPad2 3G.

Question #3 : papano ko loadan yung iPad prepaid broadband sim ko? eh wala naman SMS features ang iPad and i wont be able to avail the prepaid unlimited surfing packages. Hindi ko din pwede gamitin yung sim sa normal cellphone kasi micro sim sya.

Solution #1 : Buy a microsim adaptor. Remove your micro sim, insert it in a microsim adaptor then insert it in your current mobile phone. Reload your sim, text the syntax, remove your sim, return the sim to your iPad. (tedious job huh?)

Solution #2 : if you have an iPhone4, you dont need a microsim adaptor. Coz iPad2 and iPhone4 both use microsim. Follow the same procedure indicated on Solution #1. (still tedious yea?)

Disadvantage of Solution #1 and #2 :
You cannot easily remove the sim cards on both iPhone & iPad2. Kailangan mo sila parehong sundutin ng sundutin and in the end… i dunno what will happen kasi ever since i got my iPhone once lang na pina-sundot yun to place the sim and that’s it. And i myself ayokong sundot sundutin mga gadgets ko and im sure you dont want that either

Solution #3 : Stick to globe prepaid microsim. Then download their Globe Services App on iTunes na walang kwenta. You can reload it via autoload and check your balance but beware! your 100 peso load hindi aabot ng 24hours not even 12 hours kasi load eater ang globe.

Solution #4 : Use Sun Cellular NORMAL sim not broadband.

As for me, i bought 2 different sim cards. #1 Globe pre-paid microsim #3 Sun Cellular normal sim. I bought Globe pre-paid microsim kasi ang buong akala ko eh yung app nila sa iTunes is fully working. Hindi naman pala. Puro bug and nangangain pa ng load. Yung Sun cell naman falls into my “just in case”.

You don’t have to text anything. You can just go ahead reload Sun Expressload Broadband with your desired denomination. You dont have to activate anyting. You dont have to text anything. Just plug the sim, load your normal prepaid with Sun Express Load Broadband, change your APN settings to minternet and voila! ok na!

In my case, being a retailer for my personal use is a hugggeee advantage. I have access to all kinds of prepaid anytime, anywhere. All i have to do is either access the webtool and reload my cuted prepaid sim with SNXSBW100 or transact via text. Hindi yung hassle pa na sunduto sundutin mo yung mga gadgets mo. Pano kung nasa public ka? hassle diba? (in short mag retailer ka na! hahaha)

For now, ill stick to sun until maayos ng globe yung Globe Services App nila on iTunes. Smart is not an option for me. Super slow ang connection in most areas na pinupuntahan ko. Tipong pipidal ka pa bumilis lang.

Anyway, i hope my post will help you make your decision on choosing which prepaid to use. And how to make prepaid sim work on your iPad2 3G. But if you want a total hassle free you can avail globe’s micro sim plan 999. Lock in period is 12 months. Post paid is also not an option for me. Bat ako mag post paid kung may Loadcentral naman?
